President’s Message:

On Sunday November 11, 2012 I have with great pleasure, accepted the position of President of the Connecticut Dahlia Society. First of all I would like to thank Jesse Petersen for taking the position of Vice President and Show Chairman. As you know he has done a great job. As I mentioned at the meeting I will have big shoes to fill. I also want to thank our other officers for continuing in their positions for the next term. Hopefully, the membership will continue to help and support us in building a strong and active society.

We have included an educational program taught by Marge Schnerr to help educate the newer grower to the particulars of growing the Dahlia. Marge was kind enough to volunteer for this project which will start one hour before our regular meeting time. There is a whole program of times and dates which is attached.

At our last meeting we hired Stephen Steck to create our new website for CDS. He has already begun work on it and it should be up and running in the very near future. If any of our membership has any photos of our show or their gardens they would like to share, Stephen would like to view them. Member input would be greatly appreciated. We will have several links to various areas such as the “Big List” and the many commercial growers where you may purchase some of your “favorites” as well as other information links

Our Holiday Party will be held at the Manor Inn on December 2, 2012. Hopefully you will be able to attend. It is great food and great fun. Details will be following. However, Marge does need to know before November 24th to confirm our reservation. A grab bag will be optional but great fun if you choose to participate.

If you are unable to attend I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Happy Holiday Season. Hopefully 2013 will be a great Dahlia growing season.
