President’s Message:

Happy New Year to all our CDS members!

May it be a healthy and happy 2013. Hopefully we will also have a happy and healthy dahlia growing season.

Special thanks to Marge Schnerr, for her day-to-day work with Stephen Steck who is preparing our website. Also thanks to Jesse Peterson for his suggestions on the website. Stephen is doing a great job in making our website look outstanding. A few more tweaks and we will be taking over the maintenance of the website on our own.

If anyone has pertinent information to contribute or photos of our show, display garden or picnic, please forward them to Marge. She will first screen them for duplications and then forward them to Stephen.

Also, at this time, I would like to give a special thank you to Marilyn Lonergan for submitting over 100 photos from our picnic and show. Also thanks to Ivan Bogdanov for his show photos.

Please check out our new website at ctdahlia.org I am sure that you will be pleasantly surprised with the work that Stephen Steck has done.

Also, please remember we are having educational programs for new members that begin one hour before our regular meetings. This month, to teach them how to order “Cream of the Crop” varieties that will allow them to be competitive on the show tables, and a discussion of the differences in the 19 different forms of the dahlia. All members are welcome to attend these sessions and participate in them.

Donna Paternostro

As you know from our President’s message our website is up and running. A lot of progress has been made with it. Picnic and Show photos have been added, but there is a place for more of them. If you have any ones that are different from the ones we already have on the site, I encourage you to send them to your Editor so that they can be added.

Also we have a place for “Member’s Gardens”and I would like them also. As we build the website more I would like photos of many of our member’s gardens. It will be nice if you will also include a photo of yourself in your garden.

Also, our website has links to Facebook where we have more CDS photos. If you are not a member of Facebook you can still view them through our website.

2013 Meeting Dates:

(All Meetings are at the Thomaston Bank unless otherwise noted). The programs for new members are open to any members who are interested.

(By Default the calendar below may only show dates 2 months out. If you wish to see later dates please click “Look for more”)
