President’s Message:

All of us should be happy that January has come to an end. We should be excited about our upcoming dahlia season. Planning and placing our orders should make our winter days pass quickly till spring arrives.

Although I was not at our last meeting, I understand our educational meeting was well attended. I want to give a special thanks to Marge Schnerr for all the time and effort that she put into the presentation. She is one person who is happy to share her knowledge of the Dahlia.

Kevin Wasilewski will be teaching our February program on “Dahlia Terminology.” All members are welcome to attend. Our programs are designed to educate new members and to encourage them to participate in both the growing and showing of their dahlias.

Our annual Finance Meeting will also be held at 1:00 pm and this is open to any interested members as well.

Keep the date of April 28th on your calendar for our Root Sale at the Pond House. CDS has ordered additional tubers to be sold at the sale. More on the Root Sale will be discussed at the meeting.

Finally, if you have not viewed our new website, please check it out. Stephen Steck has done an awesome job in constructing it. Thanks also to Marge for providing the History of the CDS, Past Presidents and the listing of CDS Originations to the site. If anyone has photos from our 2012 Show, Picnic or Display Garden, please forward them to Marge for inclusion in the site.
