Program: Picnic, Raffle and Trial Garden Scoring

President’s Message:

CDS is having our annual picnic. The Society will provide several main course items and beverages. Members are requested to bring other picnic foods and desserts. The park will not allow grills so we have altered the regular menu to Fried Chicken, Pulled Pork, Sausage and Peppers, etc. Also your own chairs and tables and if you have portable coverings for protection from sun or rain may be useful. Please bring raffle items you would like to donate to our picnic raffle. It’s a great time to socialize with other members and learn some of their growing techniques.

We are planning to do a Trial Garden class since our Dahlia Display Garden is right there. This will be a new experience for members who have never participated in a trial garden before.

Please try to plan to attend. People are all busy this time of year but try to find time to participate in this event. We need to have a group effort to keep CDS and our fabulous Show successful.

In order to be prepared for the number of people who plan to attend, we need a count and also what food item you are planning to bring. Please call or email Marge with this information by August 6th her contact information is at the end of this Newsletter.

Trial Garden Judging at the Picnic:

Please bring along your 2014 Classification and Handbook of Dahlias, a pencil and a clipboard if you have one. Score sheets and the ADS Color Chart will be available. Also, remember that the gardens are in full sun so that you may also need a hat.

2014 NADC Show Schedules:

Please consider attending some of these other NADC society shows. In order for everyone to have a successful show, the participation of members from other societies bringing their blooms is necessary.

2015 Meeting Dates:

(All Meetings are at the Thomaston Bank unless otherwise noted). The programs for new members are open to any members who are interested.
